The Refugee Health Scholarship programme is opening for its second year, continuing to support former refugees and their children into health-related roles across New Zealand.
About the scholarship
The scholarship, developed by the National Leadership and Coordination Service (MBIE, the Ministry of Health, and Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora), supports former refugees to access education, training, and careers in health.
Open to former refugees and their children, the programme aims to strengthen the health workforce, improve employment outcomes, and support more equitable, culturally responsive care.
Delivered in partnership with government, academic, and community organisations, the scholarship helps build a more diverse workforce better equipped to meet the needs of New Zealand’s communities.
Applications for the 2027 intake will open on 1 July 2026 and close on 1 October 2026.
