Important Changes to New Zealand Work Visas
From 10 March 2025, Immigration New Zealand is rolling out major updates to the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) and other work visas:
✅ No More Median Wage Requirement – Employers must still pay market rates but no longer need to meet the median wage.
✅ Work Experience Requirement Reduced – Only 2 years of experience needed (down from 3).
✅ Longer Visa Duration – Low-skilled AEWV holders (ANZSCO Level 4 & 5) can now stay up to 3 years.
✅ Higher Income Threshold for Dependent Children – Now NZD $55,844 annually.
✅ Skill Level Updates – Some roles will now be classified as higher-skilled under the new system.
✅ Interim Visa Work Rights Expanded – AEWV applicants on interim visas may continue working while awaiting a decision.
